Andromeda Community Theatre is announcing open auditions for "A Christmas Carol: The Musical".

"A Christmas Carol: The Musical" is a spectacular adaptation of Charles Dickens' most well-known story.  Alan Menken's music (Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Disney's The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors) breathes fantastic new life into the classic tale of A Christmas Carol.  Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated "Bah! Humbug!" Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he's forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful "Happy Christmas" before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him.

In keeping with Andromeda Community Theatre's mission to be "part of" and "for" the community, actors of all ages and experience level will be welcomed to be part of the show. There are parts of all sizes from "Scrooge" on down to never having to speak a line by yourself. There are 12 to 15 main roles, both male and female, age approximately 5 or 6 up to 65-ish, plus many ensemble roles, any age or gender.

If you have ever wanted to try theatre, this is your chance! No one will be turned away because of ability. The only reason you will not be allowed to participate is scheduling difficulties. Most schedules can be accommodated though!

Auditions will be held on Monday, September 26 for children, and Tuesday September 27 for adults.  They will start at 6:00pm, but people will be allowed to come as late as 8:00 and still get a chance to audition. Parents who wish to audition with their children may do so during the same session, and please come on the opposite night if you can't make your designated session.

Auditions will take place at the Charlotte Church of Christ, located at 64 Vansickle Drive, off of South Cochran Avenue in Charlotte.

The tentative rehearsal schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings.

If you would like to prepare for the audition, you will find a link to the song "God Bless Us Every One" on the Andromeda Community Theatre web site and Facebook page.  Everyone will sing the same piece, and it will be taught at auditions. Every person will sing and do a "cold read" from the script. There will also be a short dance audition for anyone that is interested in being a featured dancer. Not all roles require dance, so those who don't dance will not have to do the dance audition. If you are not interested in a solo part and are uncomfortable singing by yourself then you do not have to sing alone at auditions.

There will be "call-backs" for specific roles. This will include more singing and acting as the best possible cast is assembled.

There will also be many roles behind the scenes. If your interests lie more with the technical side of a production, Andromeda Community Theatre welcomes all who are interested!

The show will take place at the Charlotte Performing Arts Center, on December 1 - 3, 2016.

Andromeda Community Theatre is looking forward to working with many new and old friends on this fun musical! Spread the word, the more the merrier!
